Dill Herb

Herb

Dill is a fast-growing herb accented by fern-like leaves and yellow flowers. Its flower heads gracefully span out in an umbrella shape. Although Dill is traditionally used as a seasoning, it is occasionally used for fresh-cut flower arrangements. Fresh cut chopped leaves can be used to add flavor to dips, soups, salads, and fish. Dill seeds can be used in pickling or to add flavor to roast, stews or vegetables. Both the flowering heads and seeds can be used in flavored vinegar or oils.

Dill grows tall so it needs to be protected from the wind.  You can help make the plants sturdier by providing plenty of room for the roots to go deep.  Just like any structure, having a good, strong foundation is best. Dill can be harvested for its leaves or seeds.  The leaves are commonly referred to as Dill Weed and can be harvested as soon as the leaves are big enough but you get the best flavor right before the flowers begin to form
