Lantana

lucky yellow lantana

Lantana is the plant to get if you are searching for a colorful, drought-tolerant, low-maintenance plant.  This popular annual always delivers in abundance, producing clusters of fragrant, trumpet shaped flowers.

The foliage is green and with serrated leaves.  Lantana’s growth habit is mounding and slightly trailing. It loves to soak up the heat and requires little maintenance. It can be trimmed back to control growth or to promote more branching for bushier plants.

They look great whether in the garden or on the patio. Lantana is the ultimate landscape plant. All lantanas are heat and drought tolerant, and their blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They bloom continuously from spring to first fall frost. They do not require deadheading. In warmer areas they are evergreen. In the mid-south they can comeback after dying back in the winter if the winter is mild enough.

Lantana is easy to grow and low maintenance. They will thrive in average soils and will tolerate poorer soils. Once established, they do not need a lot of water. Lantana in containers should be watered regularly.
