Melampodium Showstar is a compact plant, exploding in dainty yellow flowers that excels in dry or poor soils. Producing flowers all summer long and surviving drought and heat exposure makes Melampodium a solid investment for any garden.
In southern locations with high heat you might want to plant it in an area that gets a little more shade. It won’t die, but it might droop and look miserable during the heat of the day. A word of caution, they can reseed and sometimes in abundance. So choose a location where your Melampodium can have room to spread or simply pull up the seedlings.
