Yellow Achillea moonshine

Moonshine Achillea has bright yellow blooms on aromatic foliage that can range from gray-green to silver. Blooms form into flat clusters from mid summer through early fall. Achillea are great for that place in your garden that is inhospitable.  It likes most soil conditions but avoid hard packed clay and very dense soils. Make sure that wherever you put it that the soil drains well and that there is some air flow. Achillea are not fond of the wet and can develop root rot and foliar diseases such as botrytis.

Achillea was named for the Greek warrior Achilles.  It is rumored that the centaur Chiron, who was his teacher, introduced him to Yarrow.  Yarrow or Achillea is a natural coagulant which can be very useful on a battlefield for stopping the bleeding from battle wounds.

Remove spent flower heads to promote new growth. Achillea attracts bees and butterflies and makes great cut flowers. The blooms are also great for drying. It likes medium to dry soil and is drought tolerant once established.

Plant 12-15″ apart in full sun to part shade. Grows 12-24″ tall and 12-15″ wide.

Achillea Moonshine is available in our Perennial Quart size category.
