Mona Lavender Plectranthus has flower spikes that are covered with dark lavender floretts similar in shape to a mini orchid. Dark green fuzzy foliage is a rich purple when turned over. The more exposure to the sun, the darker the purple gets on the underside of the leaf. Mona Lavender Plectranthus is great in fall landscapes for warmer climates.
This cousin to Swedish ivy and the mint family, was developed in South Africa. It can be grown indoors as a house plant as long as it has a bright location.
When planted outside in the landscape, it can withstand a light freeze and temperatures down to around 25 degrees F. After the blooms are spent on a stalk, cut them off to keep the plant tidy and promote continued blooming.
