Purslane is a low-growing annual that produces vibrant blooms in a variety of colors.  A succulent by nature, it bears fleshy purple-green stems and shiny dark green leaves.

Purslane is drought tolerant.  You will have an abundance of bright blooms from the last frost in spring to the first frost of fall.  Give Purslane plenty of room to spread out.  It will create a dense mat of foliage and blooms and may over-take surrounding plants.  Succulents do not take well to wet, soggy soil and purslane is no exception.  Make sure that your soil drains well or you may develop some rot.
