Purple Heart Setcreasea

Purple Setcreasea (Wandering Jew)

Purple Heart Setcreasea has beautiful deep purple, succulent foliage that makes a perfect setting for its dainty pink flowers. It is often sold as an annual, but this Mexico native is actually an evergreen perennial that is somewhat drought tolerant and can hold up well under a light freeze. Setcreasea is more commonly referred to as Wandering Jew.

Whether used in a border or in mass planting, Setcreasea is sure to be a crowd pleaser.  It does well in rock gardens or tucked into a crevice by a waterfall.  If you want a bushier presentation, pinch the plant back.  With this plant, you don’t have to worry about the deer pinching it back for you because they tend to leave it alone.
