As you can see, planting mums in the field is a very labor intensive process. After the cuttings get to the stage where they have a adequate root system, we yank them from their comfortable and sheltered life, cram them into pots of media and place them into the harsh, real world of the mum field.
Fortunately for plants and planters, the weather this week has been mild compared to past years. The temps have been in the 80s so far. We have planted when temperatures were in the upper 90s. Once it hits 100 or so, we take the rest of the day off. I call the whole process the "Parks Bros. Spa Tanning and Weight Loss Package."
